Lessons at some schools in the UAE

Some schools in the United Arab Emirates are closed due to bad weather.

On April 13, 2019, the UAE Ministry of Education announced that some schools would be closed on Sunday, April 14, due to inclement weather.

The ministry made an announcement on its official Twitter account Saturday night. According to the ministry, the schools themselves can decide whether they should suspend classes or not.

On Saturday, meteorologists announced the flooding of several areas due to heavy rains in different parts of the country. Heavy rains, thunder and lightning were observed in Dubai on Saturday evening.

In some areas of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, hail was reported. Heavy rains also occurred in Abu Dhabi and in the emirate of Fujairah.

The National Center for Meteorology predicts thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind. The service urged motorists to take all precautions and avoid driving in valleys and in places where rainwater accumulates.
