A Classifier for Nurseries and Kindergartens to be Created in Abu Dhabi

According to Musa Al Shumi, director of the Department for the Protection of Children under the Ministry of Social Affairs of the UAE, by the end of this year, a special ministerial commission will create a classifier for all nurseries and kindergartens in the capital of the emirate.

When creating the classifier, which is planned to be published in December of this year, the following characteristics of institutions for children will be evaluated: the curriculum, the quality and convenience of the premises, and the qualifications of teachers and administration. “Despite the fact that a special unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs checks the nurseries and kindergartens operating in Abu Dhabi every year for compliance with the rules and regulations, parents have not yet had the opportunity to learn about the results of these checks,” said Ms. Al Shumi. "We hope this classifier will solve this problem. Now it will be easier for parents to decide which nurseries and kindergartens are best for their children."

During assessment and inspection, institutions for children will receive qualifications from “A” to “E”, where “A” is the highest rating for the quality of services provided, and “E” is the lowest. The lowest rated establishments will be required to improve the level of service within six months.

If this does not happen, they will be closed. Payment for services in nurseries and kindergartens will directly depend on the qualifications received. Raising it without the permission of the ministry of administration of children's institutions will be prohibited.
