New transit rules spur tourist flow growth in UAE

The introduction of new rules for transit passengers will spur the growth of tourist flow in the UAE, experts say.

Dubai, UAE. Tourists traveling through the UAE in transit will now be able to stay in the country for four days. At the same time, for the first 48 hours, according to the new visa rules of the migration services, travelers are exempted from any fees; if they want to extend their stay for another two days, they need to pay only 50 dirhams (US $ 13.7).

Experts are confident that such changes in migration policy will positively affect the growth of tourist flow. Indeed, now more tourists from Latin America, Africa, the Arab world and Pakistan will be able to visit the UAE, who still need to pre-apply for a visa to visit the country.

According to official statistics, 2/3 of all passengers arriving in the UAE travel in transit. Many of them will now be able to stay in Dubai, which in general will have a positive impact on hotel occupancy, demand for travel services and retail. It is worth recalling that in 2020 Dubai expects to receive 20 million international tourists and is actively moving towards this goal.
