US Secretary of Defense Visits United Arab Emirates

US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates arrived in the UAE, where he met with officials to discuss the unrest and unrest that continues in the Middle East region. According to information provided by the Pentagon spokesman Jeff Morrell, this is the third visit of Robert Gates to the UAE in the past 11 months and is part of the US Secretary of Defense travel program for the Middle East. Gates has already visited Saudi Arabia and Iraq as part of his visit. According to experts, the purpose of the trip was to restore relations between the United States and the GCC countries.

During his visit to the UAE, Gates met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. According to the state news agency WAM, the meeting discussed possible ways to strengthen friendly ties between the United States and the UAE to further resolve regional and international problems.

According to political analyst Theodor Karasik, director of research and development at the Institute for Military Analysis of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf (INEGMA), the visit of Robert Gates was organized to test the mood and attitude in the region to what is happening in Libya.
