Emirates Introduces Electronic Boarding Pass System

Emirates has introduced an electronic pass on board service for its passengers with a mobile device connected to the Internet. An electronic pass will be used as an alternative to conventional paper boarding passes.

This service will be available to users of the online check-in service a day before departure. Going to the site www. emirates.com from a mobile phone and having registered, passengers will be able to choose the method of obtaining an electronic pass by e-mail or SMS as a link to a page with a pass equipped with a bar code.

An electronic pass can be read at the Dubai International Airport at all check-in counters, at the boarding gates, at security and immigration control points, as well as in waiting rooms for Emirates first and business class passengers.

This service allows passengers to save all flight information in a form convenient for them, and also gives the opportunity to take care of the environment due to the rejection of the use of paper boarding passes. 550 kg of paper is expected to be saved in the first year of using Emirates electronic passes.

Following the introduction of the electronic boarding pass system at Dubai International Airport, another 30 airports as part of the Emirates flight network will be equipped with readers for mobile boarding.
